Driving Success: How Tempest Helped Florida’s First Coast of Golf Tee Up a Winning Digital Strategy

Home to THE PLAYERS Championship and some of the most celebrated PGA TOUR courses, Northeast Florida is a premier destination for golf enthusiasts. Spanning over 100 miles of sun-soaked coastline, the region features more than 71 renowned golf courses, luxury resorts, and vacation rentals across destinations like Amelia Island, Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra, and St. Augustine.

Teeing Up the Opportunity

As the go-to resource for booking golf vacations and packages in the region, Florida’s First Coast of Golf (FFCG) sought to maximize the effectiveness of its paid media efforts while working within a lean budget and utilizing existing creative assets. Tempest partnered with FFCG to develop a data-driven, highly targeted approach—ensuring that every marketing dollar delivered the right message to the right audience while highlighting the region’s exceptional golf experiences.

A Strategic Approach to the Fairway

To drive awareness and conversions, Tempest implemented a performance-driven cost-per-click (CPC) advertising strategy across Google’s search and display networks, as well as Meta’s platforms. Utilizing the latest in AI-driven bidding strategies and machine learning, we precisely targeted leisure golfers actively researching and planning their next getaway.

A multi-format approach — including responsive text ads, responsive display ads, and native placements — helped FFCG maximize reach across the Google and Meta ecosystems, including YouTube, Gmail, Facebook, and Instagram. By incorporating compelling value propositions, engaging imagery, and high-quality video content, the campaign effectively captured interest while making the most of FFCG’s existing creative assets.

To further improve conversion rates from campaign traffic, Tempest assisted with the development and refinement of several landing pages on their Tempest-built website, each speaking to a specific audience segment and including an easy-to-complete form used to capture leads.

Scoring Big with Results

Over the course of the 2024 calendar year, the campaign generated over 2 million ad impressions and over 47,000 website visits at an incredibly cost effective rate of $0.47 cost per click. While on the website, campaign traffic generated a very strong engagement rate of 55%, and drove over 45,000 partner referrals, 46 newsletter requests and 54 custom quote requests.

With one in every two website visits leading to a meaningful action, this campaign demonstrates how a strategic, data-driven approach can maximize marketing investments and drive real business impact — helping Florida’s First Coast of Golf remain the go-to resource for planning unforgettable golf getaways.
